When it comes to girl groups, everyone has their personal favourite, but we've ranked some of the biggest all-female acts of the past 20 years in terms of commercial success, cultural impact and just generally how incredibly fun they are. (We didn't include classic acts like The Supremes or the Ronettes because that would make it just too damned hard. This is a modern list.)

We've decided on the Top 13 to count down (sorry Honeyz, Precious and Girlicious), but which pop force is our ultimate No.1? Find out below.

When it came to teaching kids French, B*Witched did a lot more than the national curriculum ever could. But despite 'C'est La Vie' having everyone brushing up on their ooh la la, it was also the most Irish pop song of the decade. The now iconic "What are you like?" moment, as well as the Riverdance jig breakdown, gave the track and the group the charm they needed to hit the big time.

The hits didn't stop there, though: 'Rollercoaster', 'Jesse Hold On', 'Blame It on the Weatherman' and 'To You I Belong' were all Top 10 smashes in the UK. But the double-denim domination wasn't to last, and within two years they went from B*Witched to B*Ditched. They attempted a comeback in 2013 as part of The Big Reunion, but while we were all happy to relive their classic bops, the new material hasn't resonated.

12. ATOMIC KITTEN

Despite their band name sounding like a villain from Dexter's Laboratory, Atomic Kitten burst onto the pop scene in the wake of Girl Power in 1999. 'Right Now' was an energetic disco-tinged introduction that captured some of the fearless attitude the Spice Girls broke records with. However, Atomic Kitten's true success came when Kerry Katona was replaced by Jenny Frost and they slowed it all down a little.

'Whole Again' became their first huge chart-topper, while a cover of the Bangles' 'Eternal Flame' gave them a second No.1. The Top 10 hits kept coming until 2005, before they decided to call it a day. In 2013, Katona returned alongside Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon for The Big Reunion. They toured for a bit and promised some new "cheesy pop," but now it looks like Liz has left the group. When they headed to Australia for a gig last month, Liberty X's Michelle Heaton joined the line-up instead.

American girl group Fifth Harmony were first put together by Simon Cowell on The X Factor USA back in 2012, but it was only last year in 2015 when their true impact hit the mainstream with 'Worth It'. That's not to say previous singles such as 'BO$$' and 'Sledgehammer' weren't actual bops though, because they definitely were.

That being said, the irony of their band name is seemingly biting at their image. If constant speculation is to be believed, relationships in the group are anything but harmonious. They may be coming off the back of their biggest hit yet with 'Work From Home', but band member Camila Cabello has been branching out doing her own solo projects with Shawn Mendes and Major Lazer. It's causing everyone to ask: just how much longer is it until they're Fourth Harmony?

While they never reached the glittering heights of labelmates Girls Aloud, The Saturdays still have a chart record that would leave more than a few British pop acts looking on in envy. A decent 13 Top 10 hits is nothing to look down on. And there are some genuinely infectious handbag bops among them, from 'Issues' and 'Ego' to the Flo Rida-featuring 'Higher' and their chart-topping hit 'What About Us'. Even their often overlooked anthem 'Disco Love' still gets us.
